Little Handymen

We have attended several of Home Depot and Lowe's Kids Clinics recently and have constructed some great projects!  They are a lot of fun and great practice for following instructions and working on those fine motor skills and coordination.

Home Depot - Building and Painting a Bulletin Board
Jake hammering in a nail.

Ford getting a little assistance from Daddy.

The painting part is just as much fun as the building!

They love the carts at Home Depot, so they went for a ride while their finished projects dried.

Lowe's - Shrek's Dragon

A fun dragon to play with.  They had seen Shrek, but I don't think they remembered the dragon.  We watched it a week or so after this workshop and they recognized him.

Home Depot - Mini Football goals and paper footballs

It was the perfect project for the 1st College Football Saturday!  Go TECH!

Playing some paper football, which later turned into scoring goals with their dart guns.

Lowe's - Chuck E Roller

A mini version of Skeeball!

Lowe's - Fire Truck
Another fun one and also a favorite type of transportation!

1st Day of Pre-K 4!

We were all excited and ready for the first day of school!  Ford and Jake returned to the same school as last year but are now in the 4 year old class.  Since their school is only 3 and 4 year olds, they are officially the big kids in school!  Ford has his same teacher as last year, Ms. Boss.  He was thrilled to see her before school started and is excited to be a ladybug again with several friends from last year.  Jake has a different teacher this year, Ms. Schrenkeisen (Ms. S).  It is the shoe class and he has a few friends also from last year in his class.

Every day at pick-up it is non-stop chatter in the car.  Since the boys are in different classes, they are excited to see each other and share what they did at school.  It's hard to believe that a year from now they will be starting Kindergarten!

We were so excited for school!

VBS & Bug Camp 2012

Ford and Jake attended their first Vacation Bible School over the summer.  They went every day for a week.  The theme was "Operation Over Board" and the church was all decked out with underwater decor.  They had special shirts to wear each day and our good friends Madison & Sydney were in their class.  It was a great week for the boys and a great week for Mommy to have a little break!  We actually liked it so much Ford and Jake attended another camp at church in August called "Buggy for Bugs".

Ready for the 1st day of VBS!

They loved the bridge and the underwater characters, they asked for pictures with both.

On the final day of camp, they had an assembly and sang a song for the parents.

The 2nd camp Ford and Jake attended went past lunch time so they had to bring a lunch each day.  They were excited to help pack a lunch in their Batman lunch boxes.

4th of July

In preparation of the 4th of July, all the boys made yard signs for the parade at Grandma's house.  We also honored Grandpa for his time served in the army.

On July 3rd, we watched Kaboom Town in Addison with our dear friends the Clems.  The kids had a blast running around the top level of a parking garage and watching the fireworks while listening to music.

The boys were ready bright and early for the parade.

Swimmers & Last Game

Ford and Jake did so well in swimming class this year, I saw so much progress in 4 weeks and now they are both swimming independently.  We still need to be in the water with them and they could use some technique work, but they are doing so well and have so much confidence and fun.  For the last day of class, they got to play on the water structure and slide for the last few minutes.  It was such a fun treat!

On a recent trip to Willow Bend Mall, Jake came up to me and asked me to come take his picture inside the "monster".  He literally held up the line of kids behind him and said "Wait, I'm getting my picture".  Such a goof!

We made it through an entire 8 week T Ball season!  We were happy and sad to see it come to an end.   To celebrate our last game I made baseball cookies for the team and we had a trophy presentation following the game.  Clay also had a great idea to give each player their very own game ball.  He switched out each ball as they came up to bat and wrote their number.  It was a fun season, but we are so happy to have our Saturdays back, especially as the summer days are getting hotter!

Highlights of the season

Last game treats and prizes!

We had a lot of fans!  Gigi and Granddaddy came for some game action!  We also had visits from Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kimberly, Uncle Glenn, Blake & Benjamin.

We are so proud!

Thank you Coach Daddy for a great 1st season!

On our last game day, we also had a birthday party for our friend Matthew at Main Event!  We had to go a little late, but we got there just in time for a little bit of bowling, pizza and cupcakes and the arcade.  Such a fun party and great to see some school friends.
