Bluebonnets

Different regions of the country have their signature seasons, the spring Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC, the Fall Foliage on the East Coast, and in Texas we get Bluebonnets in the Spring!  It is such a beautiful site to see blue patches across fields that are normally just green.  The boys had a blast running around this patch and managed to stay still for a few minutes for some pictures.

Spring Fling

PAMOM had their annual Spring Fling and Egg Hunt.  It is always a fun event for the whole family.  This year it was at a beautiful park and included pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, egg hunt and the Easter Bunny.  We got in line for the pony rides first, Jake walked right up and got on a pony.  Ford decided he wasn't interested in any of the animals, he only wanted to run around and play on the playground.   We were surprised that Ford had no interest, but they were just at the farm the week before, I guess they are a little spoiled with getting to see farm animals.

Ford loves to "run fast" and could play on a playground every minute of the day.  He moves nonstop.  It is a great release of energy.  Some day I'm going to figure out how to bottle that energy and sell it to make millions! 

The boys were just in strange moods that day.  They didn't want to wait in line for anything, which really is not unususal for 3 year olds.  We walked over for face painting because they said they wanted to, but once they saw a line, they said no.

Finally we got ready for the Egg Hunt for our age group.  The boys were excited and ready to collect eggs.  They were waiting as patiently as they could, they both sneaked 2 eggs before the official start.   Only Ford ended up participating.  For the official start, the Easter Bunny got in the middle of the field and blew an air horn.  Suddenly it was a mob of people everywhere!  Jake took off running the opposite direction, he wanted NOTHING to do with any of it.  Daddy followed him and I told Ford he needed to collect for Jake.  After we got our eggs, we found Jake and Daddy, Ford happily shared the loot. 

After they both settled down from the egg hunt, I asked if they wanted a picture with the Easter Bunny, it was a big "NO".  So, no pictures this time. Now, if you ask Jake about the Easter Bunny, he gets worried and says "No Easter Bunny".  It's funny because last year they had no problem with the Easter Bunny and this year Jake finally got comfortable with Santa.  I guess the image of a giant cartoon-like bunny walking around can be terrifying to anyone, not just a 3 year old!  We'll just have to focus Easter on what it really is about, the celebration of Jesus!

Staying busy

Jake loves school, he is excited to go every day.  His teacher emails the parents daily to let us know what they did.  We definitely have already seen some improvement in his speech and language since starting school and he gets to do really great activities.  Since Ford won't start until the Fall, we try to do some fun things during Jake's school time.  Ford absolutely loves playgrounds, he asks to go to one almost every day.

To celebrate spring, we made some chick puppets.  The boys like to do crafts, especially if glue is involved.


We also made some homemade ice cream.  This little ice cream maker is perfect for making small batches in just 8 minutes!  We did one batch for the boys and one for Mommy/Daddy.  Ford and Jake picked M&Ms to add to their mixture.  They loved watching it turn and turn and turn!

Opening Day!

It's official, baseball season has begun!  This is one of Clay's favorite days of the year.  This year the boys were excited as well, they really started getting into baseball last fall and especially during the Rangers play off games.  Any time baseball is mentioned, Jake runs and grabs his glove.  I'm sure before we know it, we will be cheering on the Hansard Duo at games!

We made the news!

We made the local news! This story stemed from a YouTube video that went viral with a set of identical twins babbling in a way that seems like a conversation or a "special twin language". It is really cute and reminded me and several of my fellow Twin/Triplet Moms of our babies when they were at that early language age. A news reporter from CBS 11 came over and talked to us for a little bit and took some video of the boys playing. Of course, Ford would not cooperate at all at first - finally we pulled out the play-doh and he was content. Jake was being a total ham for the camera - too bad they didn't show that :) We are on for a few seconds, so I guess we got our 5 seconds of fame - which is more than enough for us!  CBS 11 news clip aired March 30, 2011:  That Viral Video Of Infant Twins Talking? Farm Boys

Ford and Jake took a trip up to the farm with Gigi and Granddaddy.  When we told them they were going, they grabbed their cowboy hats and wore them all day until they were picked up.  They had a blast running around, feeding and petting the animals, and riding the tractor.  What a fun place for two little boys to get dirty and explore!
